Nice Globe  I bought this product as a gift for my fiance. It arrived in good time and I was pleased with it. Unfortunately once the globe had been switched on, the bulb blew within a couple of minutes. We luckily had a spare. Once we'd changed the bulb, the fuse blew immediately. Not ideal when its a gift.    -

This German-designed, illuminated globe with its simple, yet elegant solid wooden base and 33 cm (13") diameter globe ball, is the perfect addition to the home or office.

Discover two versions of the world with the flick of a switch! The Dresden globe displays the popular dual mapping feature - with a twist! - when unlit a subtle, political map is displayed with the country boundaries shown in pastel colours. The cartographer has also included the world's main rail, air and sea ways for added interest.

When illuminated, a physical map appears in stunning earth tones, revealing the world's mountain regions, forests, desert, rivers and ice-covered regions. Ocean depths also appear in different shades of blue. This clever use of shadowing techniques by the cartographer has given the globe a raised-relief effect that appears almost 3-dimensional, adding further interest to this multi-functional piece.
