About This Globe

When only the finest will do! Globes don’t come much more special than the Duorama Glass Globe.

This 40cm (16") diameter illuminated globe is larger than the standard size for desktop globes. Each globe ball is hand blown by German craftsmen from the finest glass and the gores (individual sections of the map) are hand laid. The cartographic artistry of the map, with its unique use of shading on land masses and in the oceans to create a 3 dimensional relief effect, is second to none. The globe shows physical features of the earth when unlit and political boundaries appear when the globe is illuminated. The stand on the globe is made from stainless steel and is deliberately kept simple in design so as not to detract from the globe itself. German quality at its best!

A new way to interact with your globe.

The Columbus interactive pen is fully compatible with every Columbus product. Any globe that is called Duo, Duorama, Azzurro or Royal on JustGlobes will come to life with the addition of the Columbus pen.

At approximately the same width as a highlighter pen and with a rubber grip, the interactive pen is easily held. Simply touch the globe to hear fascinating information about that place or area. Countries, rivers, seas and oceans are all full of information waiting to be told.

In the box with the interactive pen is a small card which, when touched with the pen, changes the information unlocked on the globe’s surface. Choose between general information, national anthems or videos. When you download the Columbus Video Pen app and touch “video” on the card, the interactive pen will unlock YouTube videos that play on your smartphone.

When selecting “National Anthems” on the card, the pen will play selected national anthems for you.

The volume can be changed on the pen or headphones can plug directly to the pen for silent usage.

The pen is charged just like a smartphone and comes with a USB-USB C cable. Once charged the interactive pen lasts for many hours and holds charge for months.
