Hand-blown glass perfection. The Harmony is perhaps the most beautiful glass globe in the world. Made by Columbus Globes in Germany it incorporates beauty, design, style and detail perfectly.

The Harmony is very large, standing at 115cm tall and approximately 65cm wide with a 51cm diameter globe ball.  

The stand is made from ultra-high quality American black walnut, crafted in Germany by sanding and polishing up to 7 times to create the perfect gloss effect. The base is thick and solid, making the 51cm globe ball reassuringly sturdy nested in its cradle. The ring and fittings are made from high-grade brushed steel. The Harmony is named for its design, one that almost seemingly blends wood and metal to create and style that fits almost any room décor.

The Harmony is illuminated via a cable that comes out of the base and not the southern hemisphere like most illuminated globes. This allows for endless rotation, both regular spinning and flipping upside down, without and complications with the cable. The illumination is a vibrant LED in order to perfectly display some of the world’s most magnificent globe cartography. The Harmony glows vibrantly, creating a beautiful effect best viewed during evenings at home, perhaps in a living room or drawing room.

The globe ball features the Duo map type, famed for its clarity and enormous detail. When the light is off, shipping routes, ocean currents and countries are represented in different colours as well as thousands of place names, this is described as political mapping. When the light is on, the map subtly changes to show the world’s major mountain ranges, creating an almost 3D effect. When lit up in a dark room, you would need to run your hand over the surface to reassure yourself that the ball is still smooth.

The heavy glass ball is thick, to improve strength and is completely blown and shaped by hand. Glass feels different to the touch compared to any other material. It gives a feel of luxury to the product as well as a deeper glow when lit, as the light refracts differently through the glass than through a plastic sphere. The map is printed in large strips called “gores”. It is then cut with laser guided precision before being hand-applied to the surface of the globe ball. This is an extraordinarily skilled process that requires huge amounts of training and experience.

A new way to interact with your globe.

The Columbus interactive pen is fully compatible with every Columbus product. Any globe that is called Duo, Duorama, Azzurro or Royal on JustGlobes will come to life with the addition of the Columbus pen.

At approximately the same width as a highlighter pen and with a rubber grip, the interactive pen is easily held. Simply touch the globe to hear fascinating information about that place or area. Countries, rivers, seas and oceans are all full of information waiting to be told.

In the box with the interactive pen is a small card which, when touched with the pen, changes the information unlocked on the globe’s surface. Choose between general information, national anthems or videos. When you download the Columbus Video Pen app and touch “video” on the card, the interactive pen will unlock YouTube videos that play on your smartphone.

When selecting “National Anthems” on the card, the pen will play selected national anthems for you.

The volume can be changed on the pen or headphones can plug directly to the pen for silent usage.

The pen is charged just like a smartphone and comes with a USB-USB C cable. Once charged the interactive pen lasts for many hours and holds charge for months.
