Introducing a range of exciting new limited edition globes working in collaboration with Waller & Wood Woodworks; a custom furniture company created by Rugby Union stars Alex Waller and Tom Wood.

About The Globe

The solid maple base on this globe has tapered edges to give an elegant look and the conservatively applied oil beautifully showcases the edge and end grains of the wood. Every base is unique; displaying imperfections such as knots, colour variation, pitch pockets and mineral streaks which only enhance the natural look and feel of this item.

The globe is supported by our most premium anodized brass-coloured metal meridian which rises up out of the substantial base.

The globe ball itself is part of our soft-touch range; a satin finish that combined with the raised relief, provides an inviting and tactile feel. The cartography is fully up-to-date and includes over 4000 place names. The mapping has been made using traditional paper strips known as “gores”, a technique that dates back over 400 years of globe manufacture.

A fellow Northamptonshire business, Waller & Wood Woodworks was born out of the desire to distract Alex and Tom from the daily grind of elite professional sport. What started as a hobby has snowballed into a flourishing business and they now create a variety of wooden pieces from small serving boards and coasters right up to bespoke dining tables.

Alex made his debut for Northampton Saints in 2009 and has played over 300 games for the Gallagher Premiership side including breaking the league record for consecutive appearances at 150 in 2018. Alex captained the Saints for 3 years which included leading the team to Premiership Cup glory in 2019.

Tom started his career at Worcester Warriors before making the move to Northampton Saints in 2007 and retiring in 2022. In that time he played over 200 games for the Saints and captained the side in 2016/2017. He received international honours in 2011 and went on to play 50 times for England including winning the Six Nations in 2011, captaining the side to a 2-0 tour victory over Australia in 2013 and completing the Grand Slam of the Six Nations in 2016.
